Benefits of Dry Needling

Dry Needling

What we provide

Dry Needling is NOT acupuncture. The only similarity between Dry Needling and acupuncture is the needle being used, but in the case of Dry Needling, we are using Dry Needles. Dry Needling is a treatment modality used within the scope of practice by Physical Therapists. It involves using a thin monofilament needle which is inserted at the site of tissue dysfunction, and often above and below the area of dysfunction. Nothing is being injected, and nothing is being taken out. The purpose of Dry Needling is to reduce pain and restore normal function of the muscle.

Dry needling delivers a wide array of benefits, including:

- Reduce pain
- Restore and improve range of motion
- Restore and enhance muscle function
-Reach physiologic homeostasis of muscle tissue which has been altered with injury

- Reduce muscle tone and spasticity

-Break up scar tissue as a result of injuries and old surgeries (ex. total knee replacements)

-Etc..

At MyoHealth PT, we expertly provide trigger point dry needling and manual therapy. Treatments can consist of Dry Needling, soft tissue massage and myofascial release, cupping, joint mobilization and manipulation. We also provide patient specific exercises designed to initiate strengthening and further restore normal function of the tissue.
